Your 'About Me' Video Submission
Scores are great. But what really helps our preceptors is knowing who you are before you show up!
MAKE A MEMORABLE FIRST IMPRESSION
Your short 'About Me' video gives our preceptors additional insight into who you are as a person and student. With candidate's coming from all over the world and having studied and trained in different ways and languages, this video supplements our understanding of you, as an applicant, so you're not just a name on a file.
So what should you say in your video?
If this was your CaRMS interview and you were asked 'So please tell us about yourself?', use that as the inspiration to share your journey. Things you can talk about include your upbringing and family life, your academic and scholastic achievements to date, and your hopes and aspirations. But don't make this complicated.
Your video should not be more than 1 minute in duration and it does not have to have perfect makeup and lighting. We're not asking you to shoot a Hollywood trailer! You can use your iPhone and shoot the video in portrait or landscape mode but above all else, Be HONEST. Be Genuine. BE YOURSELF!

Tips for creating & shooting an effective 'About Me' video
- Be sure to look into the camera and begin by saying your full name
- It helps to quickly draft an outline of what you would like to say - PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - do not read from a script. Act natural and be conversational.
- Center yourself in the screen and prop your video device (laptop, iPhone) on a separate surface so that you are not holding it as you speak - We don't want a 'Blair witch project' experience!
- Attire - dress appropriately—not too casual and not too formal. (Yes, you can wear your scrubs or white coat if you like!)
- Speak clearly and check your lighting - we want to be able to see and hear you!
- Choose a clean background and be sure that there isn’t too much outside noise.
- Be creative in expressing yourself and sharing your story!
